MSO Concert Series-Rhapsody In Blue, Black & White (Craig Randal Johnson, piano)
Craig Randal Johnson is a Minneapolis-based pianist, conductor and double bassist who frequently performs in the Upper Peninsula. As pianist, Craig's solo programs focus heavily on 20th century American and Finnish music. He has performed around the United States as Finlandia Foundation "Performer of the Year", in addition to appearances on WNYC-New York, the 'Rock Church' in Helsinki, Sundin Hall in St. Paul, 'Leibnizhaus' in Hannover, concerts in California, in Hartford (CT), Duluth, Marquette and elsewhere. He accompanies solo singers and the Augsburg College Masterworks Chorale. In summer 2009 Craig played solo piano engagements in Hannover, Germany, served as accompanist at the Society of Bassists international convention at Penn State University, and was pianist for the trio 'Kolme', for Strings on the Bay concerts in Escanaba and Manistique.
In Michigan Craig Randal Johnson has conducted the Finn Grand Fest Gala Concert (2005), the Marquette Symphony, the Superior Festival Orchestra, and the newly created Boreal Chamber Symphony. He has conducted the Rome Festival Orchestra, Florida Symphony and several ensembles in Minnesota. Earlier he was engaged six seasons as repetitor, Music Director for stage plays and double bassist in German opera houses. Previous double bass positions were with the Florida Symphony (Principal), the Staatsorchester Braunschweig, Aspen Chamber Symphony, and the Columbus (OH) Symphony.
Craig Randal Johnson holds degrees from the University of Minnesota (B.A.) and Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois (M. M.). His CD 'Piano Music from Finland' is available at several outlets in the Upper Peninsula. www.tonttu.com

$12.50 for all on-line ticket purchases. Tickets purchased on-line prior to February 21 will be mailed. Tickets purchased on-line February 21 and later will be held at the box office for pick-up.
